لیلا زانا مفهوم صلح در ترکیه را به معنای سرکوب، بازداشت، کشتار ملت کورد دانست

روز پنج شنبه (4 فوریه)، لیلا زانا، سیاستمدار نامدار کورد و از چهره‌های فعال حقوق بشر ترکیه در سخنرانی خود در پارلمان اروپا اعلام کرد: "همه‌ی ما خواهان صلح و آشتی هستیم، اما مفهوم صلح در کوردستان ترکیه با مناطق غرب ترکیه بسیار متفاوت است. در کوردستان ترکیه صلح به معنای اعتراف به زبان و تاریخ و فرهنگ ملت کورد، پایان تبعیض نژادی، احترام به حقوق ملی و شهروندی کوردها، اعطای آزادی و اشاعه‌ی دمکراسی در کشور است. اما این مفهوم در غرب ترکیه به معنای سرکوب، بازداشت، کشتار و نسل کشی ملت کورد می‌باشد."

  Unite for human rights in Iran on February 11th

    February 11th is Victory of the Revolution Day in Iran. Equivalent to the Fourth of July in the United States, it is a day commemorating liberty, independence and freedom. But the Iranian government has long violated these rights and is responsible for numerous abuses including torture, arbitrary arrests, censorship and the most recent execution of two activists accused of inciting the post-election protests on June 12th – even though these men had been held in detention long before the violence erupted.

It is amazing how Henry Kissinger has been able to retain his aura of invincible genius in international relations, continuing to counsel presidents, foreign governments and major global businesses, while occasionally writing lofty Op Ed pieces advising the U.S. on what it should or should not be doing next. This mind you, despite Kissinger’s own history of monumental cynicism and duplicity when he was guiding foreign policy for President’s Nixon and Ford. Indeed, it’s a tribute to the ability of mainstream American media to forgive and forget.
